Survivors of Assault
Peer Support group

The Survivors Support Group at The Queer Collective is a peer-led, four-week course designed to support individuals who have experienced assault. Each cohort brings survivors together in an inclusive, grounded, and trauma-informed space where healing is self-directed, autonomy is respected, and connection is nurtured.

Our groups are not therapy, they are supportive, community-centered circles where peers explore guided topics, share insights at their own pace, and participate in activities that promote grounding and reflection.

Groups are open to LGBTQ+ and allied adults. There is no cost and no requirement to disclose details of your experience.

Meet Our Facilitators

Flora Figueroa

Support Group Facilitator | Housing Coordinator

Flora is a transgender woman (MTF) who has worked in Mental Health and Social Services for over four years. While she describes herself as a mostly quiet and reserved person, she loves having deep conversations and trying to make the most out of every day.

Flora brings profound empathy to her work through her lived experiences with substance abuse, homelessness, sexual abuse, domestic violence, depression, and surviving homophobia, transphobia, and discrimination. Although she initially struggled with internalizing feelings she didn't understand, her journey today is deeply rooted in learning self-love and recovery. For Flora, being part of this peer support group is largely about the community saying, "We can be here for each other, and we are enough."

Outside of her advocacy, Flora loves spontaneous outings and doing things that make her laugh and smile. She enjoys live music, playing skate punk way too loud, and complaining when people are on her grass and about the economy.

Toni Urena

Support Group Facilitator | Human Rights Coordinator

Antonia (Toni) is a dedicated community advocate who brings a deeply empathetic perspective to the Queer Collective. Drawing on her diverse background as a criminal defense paralegal, emergency dispatcher, and caregiver, she focuses her advocacy across LGBTQ+ rights, immigration, environmental justice, harm reduction, and mutual aid.

Toni’s work is driven by a commitment to equity and a dedication to dismantling the systemic barriers that impact marginalized communities. She is passionate about building inclusive, affirming spaces rooted in empathy, connection, and collective care. Toni’s ultimate vision is to help foster a community where everyone feels empowered to show up as their authentic selves, embracing the power of community care to create meaningful change.

Outside of her advocacy work, Toni loves listening to metal music and getting into mosh pits. She also enjoys watching scary movies, traveling around the world, and catching up on anime.
