PFLAG FRESNO: Little Queer Library
Allen Hart Branch located at the Queer Collective
The Little Queer Library at The Queer Collective is a cozy, community-powered reading space filled with books, zines, and stories by, for, and about LGBTQ+ people. Created to make queer stories easy to find, share, and celebrate right here in Fresno, the library offers a safe and welcoming place to see yourself reflected on the shelves.
The Little Queer Library exists to make queer stories easy to find, share, and celebrate. In a time when LGBTQ+ books are being challenged and removed from classrooms and libraries across the country, we’re committed to creating a space where our stories are safe, visible, and cherished.
Whether you’re just starting to explore your identity, looking for books for a loved one, or a lifelong reader searching for your next favorite author, you’re welcome here.
Honoring Allen L. Hart, MD
The Little Queer Library is dedicated in memory of Allen L. Hart, MD, a beloved physician, advocate, and trailblazer whose life’s work uplifted transgender and gender-diverse communities. Dr. Hart was among the first openly transgender physicians in the United States, and throughout his life he worked tirelessly to expand understanding, visibility, and dignity for trans people.
His courage, leadership, and unwavering commitment to equity continue to inspire our work at The Queer Collective. As a community-centered resource hub focused on wellness, connection, and belonging, we carry his legacy forward by creating spaces where queer and trans people can access knowledge, find representation, and feel supported.
Through the Little Queer Library, we honor Dr. Hart’s life by ensuring that LGBTQ+ people in Fresno have a place where their stories are protected, celebrated, and shared.
